The ApaCenter was formed by Dr. Mike Brooks in 2007 with purpose of providing the best psychological care to clients of all ages in Austin. We use a combination of compassionate care along with evidence-based practices. This means that our compassionate care is informed by treatment approaches that have been shown to be effective scientifically. Also, we are client-centered. That is, we partner with you throughout the work that we do. In effect, we form an alliance, a partnership, in the change process.
At the ApaCenter, we are also strengths-based. That is, we don’t look at you or your child through the lens of deficits, disabilities, and disorders. All of us have strengths and weaknesses. To a great extent, learning to overcome challenges in life is based upon how well we identify, grow, and capitalize upon our strengths. Studies have found that the more we are able to use our strengths, the more successful and happier we tend to be. So, when we work with you to overcome your challenges and reach your goals, we don’t just focus on overcoming your weaknesses. Certainly, that can be part of it. But it is essential to harness your strengths as well
Who We Are

As a team, we firmly believe the adage that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We work collaboratively and benefit from one another’s expertise. This allows us to better meet your needs as well as to grow as professionals.
As a group, we offer a broad array of treatment expertise, including:

We serve clients of all ages – from young children to adults. We also serve couples and families. One psychologist can’t be an expert in everything. That’s why we have a team of psychologists and therapists so that we have at least one expert who can meet just about any need that you might have.
